Qatar and Kyrgyzstan sign accords to boost ties

Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic signed several agreements following a session of official talks chaired by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.

HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, several Qatari Ministers and members of the official delegation accompanying the Kyrgyz president were also present.

The talks focused on bilateral relations and the means to enhance them in different fields, particularly the economy and investment sectors. The two leaders also reviewed issues of joint interest.

Following the talks, the Emir and the Kyrgyz president witnessed the signing of a number of agreements between their respective governments.

The two governments signed the following agreements:

1. A visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports.

2. An agreement regarding protection of investment.

3. An agreement for co-operation in cultural and tourism sectors.

4. An agreement between the chamber of commerce and industry in the two countries.

Later the Emir held a luncheon banquet in honour of the Kyrgyz president and the accompanying delegation.

Earlier an official reception ceremony was accorded to President Atambayev when he arrived at the Emiri Diwan.

The Kyrgyz president left Doha later in the evening after an official visit to Qatar.

He was seen off by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, Ambassador of Qatar to Kyrgyzstan Mohamed Arar Omeer Alramazani al-Nuaimi and non-resident Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Qatar Avazbek Atakhanov.
