Entering the fourth year, the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig is holding its annual three-day fiesta titled “Passionfest,” which celebrates the birth of Filipino nationalist and revolutionary leader Andres Bonifacio today. |
The city’s “urban fiesta” will highlight the “passions of the city,” that began on Friday through various activities centred on culture, art, fitness and lifestyle, which have all become synonymous with this young yet vibrant city.
“BGC Passionfest is a regular event we’ve been holding for the past four years as the official fiesta of BGC. It is very Filpino in nature but celebrated the BGC way,” said Monica Llamas, Art Programme manager of the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc.
This year’s theme, “A Boni-fide Urban Fiesta,” will start off with a street party at the Bonifacio High Street, featuring Filipino dances staged in a bright parade at night. This will also launch the “Supremo Sale” for shoppers to enjoy deals with numerous participating BGC stores.
Today, Run BGC’s “Urban Adventure” will have participants in groups of 10 explore the city by way of a series of challenges, much like the Amazing Race.
There will also be booths with Filipino street food favourites such as kwek-kwek, fish balls, and inihaw lined up on the Ninth Avenue. Entertainment, variety shows, parades and performances are also scheduled throughout the three-day fiesta.
