The Permanent Emergency Committee (PEC) is holding a five-day training workshop on advanced risk management, in association with the Arab Centre for Information, Consulting and Training Services.
The event started at the Civil Defence officers’ club on October 26.
The programme was inaugurated by Director-General of Public Security and PEC chairman Staff Maj Gen Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Al Fazaa department director Brig Abdul Aziz bin Faisal al-Thani, Brig Nasser al-Nasr, director of the operations department at Civil Defence Brig Hamad al-Duhaimi, Brig Ali Mohamed Mejali from the Qatar Armed Forces and vice-chairman of the GCC Emergency Management Centre Dr Abdul Rahman al-Anazi.
The programme, which includes a lecture by Arab Centre for Training CEO Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, is being attended by officials from different departments of the Ministry of Interior and other agencies concerned in the state.
Staff Maj Gen al-Khulaifi said the workshop has been organised in order to implement the strategy of PEC and help achieve its goals, stressing that such meetings and workshops contribute greatly to raising the work level of personnel dealing with emergency situations.
He said the exchange of experiences and attainment of skills and knowledge in such areas is an important means of enabling personnel to optimally perform their role and reduce losses in any accident. This workshop is the third of its kind held by the PEC.
Brig al-Duhaimi, also the PEC secretary, said the workshop is a training initiative aimed at generating discussions related to risks and disasters, including finding appropriate solutions to respond to and recover from disasters.
The workshop is analysing different types of risks, including both expected and unexpected, risk management plans and risk control, the methodology of preparing for emergencies, emergency supply chain and a general emergency management plan for companies.
The workshop is also discussing co-ordination between agencies working in the field of emergency management at the regional and international levels.
