New housing project opens in Al Khor

HE  the Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali yesterday inaugurated  a new housing project by Qatar Real Estate Investment Company (Alaqaria) for Qatargas and RasGas inside Al Khor Community.

After Alaqaria,  which forms part of the Barwa Real Estate Group, was established in 1995, the government had allocated it 2.6mn sqm land the next year for development. Until date, Alaqaria has built a total of 2,900 villas and apartments on 2.2mn sqm in order to house more than 12,500 employees of Qatargas, RasGas, Dolphin and Shell Qatar.

The company’s investments have amounted to more than QR2bn in the development of Al Khor Community, considered one of the largest residential complexes in Qatar.

In Ras Laffan, Alaqaria is to add more housing units to meet the requirements of Qatargas and RasGas. This will include the addition of 850 housing units plus a new social and sports club, three mosques, a shopping mall and schools, with a total investment exceeding QR1bn.

This project is considered one of the largest for Alaqaria which has assets worth QR8.6bn.

Most of Alaqaria’s projects are concentrated in  industrial areas like Mesaieed Industrial City, Dukhan City and Ras Laffan.

It is building the first phase of a labour accommodation complex  in Ras Laffan Industrial City “in accordance with international standards in environmental health, security and public safety”.

As for Mesaieed Industrial City, Alaqaria will build a residential complex of 600 residential units valued at about QR350mn to provide housing for employees of companies operating there.

The company has recently opened its Souq Mesaieed project which contains more than 100 commercial stores, 138 apartments and 70 administration offices.

In addition, the company is constructing a QR200mn social and sports club house for Qatar Petroleum employees. Its expected completion  is in mid-2015.

In Dukhan, the company is executing the ninth stage of accommodations for QP employees. This includes 246 villas and apartments at a value of QR470mn.
