Acclaimed journalist Mustafa al-Agha, head of the sports section at MBC network and presenter of the acclaimed sports show ‘Sada Al-Mala’ab’, has praised preparations as the 2022 FIFA World Cup takes on shape on the ground in Qatar.

“A few years ago hosting the World Cup in the Arab World and the Middle East was a dream for us. Today we can see the realisation of this dream on the ground,” said al-Agha following a visit to the headquarters of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) in Doha this week.

During the visit al-Agha met with SC secretary general Hassan al-Thawadi and toured the organisation’s Technical Department where he was briefed on the plans and preparations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. After viewing presentations on public transport systems, Qatar’s new metro currently being built and the innovative cooling technology which will be used in stadiums and fan zones, al-Agha said: “I was amazed with what I saw here today. I think it is very important to showcase these efforts for the whole world to see.”

The famous presenter then proceeded to visit the SC newsroom with SC’s executive director of Marketing and Communications Nasser al-Khater, where he discussed the best methods to reach and engage the audience in the Arab World in hosting this global event.

Al-Agha urged the team to become ambassadors for the SC and Qatar 2022, calling on them to capitalise on the fact that “Qatar is a very diverse country…it is like a small united nations, and by connecting with the people living here and reflecting their experiences we can reach out to the audience in their home countries as well”.
