Natural resources a key driver of economic growth, says Total chief

Guillaume Chalmin, Total E&P Qatar’s managing director and group representative, recently delivered a presentation for Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) students pursuing Executive Master Degree in Energy and Resources.

The presentation focused on Total’s strategy and was well-received by the attending students. The students, majority of whom are Qatari, are mostly high-potential managers, executives and industry experts in the oil and gas and other sectors.

His presentation reasserted energy and natural resources as one of the key drivers of economic growth. He stressed that it was an important consideration as there was a growing need for decision makers to better understand and manage energy complexity, in order to identify innovative solutions in the rapidly changing environment.

“Our commitment to share our technical knowledge and business expertise with esteemed Qatari institutions such as Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and top international institutions such as HEC Paris, forms an important part of our CSR strategy,” Chalmin said.

“We are proud of our support for human development in Qatar in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, and we will continue to provide this support to all our local partners.”

Chalmin also spoke about the history of Total in Qatar, which spans almost 80 years. He covered Total’s business development strategy as the only international oil company in Qatar active in all branches of the oil and gas sector as well as its energy projects and joint ventures, CSR strategy and the other initiatives which have allowed the company to become a trusted partner of local institutions.
