Vehicles stuck in traffic on a street in the Farmgate area after two days of the weekend and two consecutive strike days by the political parties in Dhaka yesterday. A lack of skilled drivers and traffic police, a faulty traffic signal systems and the huge number of vehicles are regarded the main reason for traffic congestions which create daily sufferings for commuters in the Bangladesh capital. According to a study by Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT), traffic jams are responsible for taking away 8.15mn of man-hours every day.
