Sidra Medical and Research Center (Sidra) participated in the Summer Career Camp 2014 organised by Qatar Career Fair. Sidra welcomed over 50 secondary school students to a field trip to the Sidra Simulation Centre.

Organised by Sidra’s National Development Division in partnership with Qatar Career Fair, the students were introduced to Sidra’s simulation team and were given an overview of the centre and its different specialties. They were also able to try various simulation activities including respiratory techniques and life-saving procedures.

“Sidra’s National Career Development Division is actively involved in career development programmes and events to motivate more Qatari students and professionals to join the healthcare sector. It hosts outreach programmes and career events for students; career development, training and mentoring programmes for new graduates joining Sidra; and oversees scholarship opportunities for students pursuing higher education in medicine and healthcare,” said Dr Eiman al-Ansari, director of National Development, Sidra.

“Opportunities like this showcase how Sidra will handle the care and treatment of women and children. It is part of our strategy to encourage students to consider careers in the healthcare sector. This also supports the National Health Strategy 2011-2016 which goes hand in hand with the Qatar National Vision 2030 objective to develop national capacity that will enhance healthcare services in the country,” continued Dr al-Ansari.

Several of the students who attended the field trip to the Sidra Simulation Centre were motivated by their experience at the centre and expressed their interest in learning more about healthcare.

“This field trip really changed my mind about the medical sector. I especially liked the training when it comes to the treatment of mothers and babies,” said Sheikha al- Harmi, a student of Newton International School.

The Sidra Simulation Centre is a world-class facility that provides simulation education to Sidra staff, affiliated medical students and relevant stakeholders who care for women and children. It specialises in preparing them for their clinical experience. The combined simulation team experience and state-of-the-art technologies at the Sidra Simulation Centre provides access to world-class methodologies, knowledge and expertise  that will pave the way for advanced medical treatment and patient care in Qatar.
