Qapco renews its support to Delni initiative
For the second year in a row, Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco) is sponsoring the Delni initiative, a national awareness campaign targeting the youth and spearheaded by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
The sponsorship was announced yesterday at an official signing ceremony in the presence of Issa Khalifa al-Kuwari from the ministry and director of the Delni campaign and Dr Mohamed Youssef al-Mulla, vice-chairman and CEO of Qapco.
Delni means “Guide Me” in Arabic. For its latest edition, the campaign targets the youth and focuses, in particular, on the role and responsibility of parents and teachers.
By caring for their children and being dedicated to their students, parents and teachers play a significant role in the lives of teenagers as they are seen as sources of inspiration, influencers, educators and role models.
As such, Delni will focus on this particular group in order to highlight the importance of the concept of responsibility among children and teenagers, through a multitude of events, practical workshops and training sessions for the community and in co-operation with schools.
Building on the positive response received by the Delni campaign, which was launched in 2013 and reached out to more than 41,000 students and 77 schools across Qatar, Qapco has reaffirmed its support to the new edition of the flagship national awareness campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr al-Mulla said: “We are delighted to once again support the Delni initiative as the benefits of the national campaign are evident: empowering the youth and offering them professional guidance in order to assist them in making asserted choices that can positively impact their lives and society in general.”
Al-Kuwari stressed that the objective of the Delni campaign is to target groups of teenagers and their parents by familiarising them with the notion of responsibility, encouraging them to be responsible for their actions and avoid potentially negative behaviours and practices.
The campaign will also focus on the importance of education and the preservation of culture and traditions, while supporting parents in developing their parenting skills and offering them guidance.
Training courses will be offered by social specialists and psychologists and further implemented in schools by teachers, ensuring a global approach beneficial for the society at large.
Al-Kuwari expressed his thanks and appreciation for Qapco for once again supporting the Delni programme.
Dr al-Mulla praised the role of the ministry for its valuable contribution and activities, such as Delni, aimed at building a better society.
Qapco has developed focused community engagement programmes as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, highlighting the ongoing commitment of the company to support Qatar’s social and cultural development.
