Katara gears up for workshop, exhibition

The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts workshop will be held at Katara - the Cultural Village from September 18 to October 1.

Registration for the workshop is open at Katara Art Studios, building 19.

The workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn how to draw Islamic geometric shapes using traditional tools such as the ruler and protractor, besides colouring.

The participants will also get lessons on the principles and basics of the decoration of Islamic manuscripts.

The initiative will include sub-workshops for families, where children aged five years old and above can participate, accompanied by an adult relative.

Meanwhile, Katara is getting ready to host an exhibition of photographs featuring Islamic monuments in India, in co-operation with the Indian embassy in Doha.

The exhibition, which will be held from September 21 to October 4, will present 45 select photographs by India’s Benoy K Behl pertaining to Islamic heritage in India.
