Selfies under threat

Students take a ‘selfie’ after attending classes outside a school in Cavite city, south of Manila. The Protection against Personal Intrusion Act, or House Bill 4807, which is being debated in the Philippine Congress, seeks to prohibit the taking of photos, videos and audio recordings of people without asking for their permission. According to an opponent of the bill, Representative Carlos Zarate of the Bayan Muna party, the bill could potentially also affect people taking ‘selfies’ with public figures in the background, local media reported.
