QIB opens branch in Umm Salal City
Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) has opened a new state-of-the-art branch at Umm Salal City as part of its expansion strategy to be at the centre of thriving communities in the country. |
The branch is located along Umm Salal Mohamed Road in Barzan 1Souq. It is divided into three main sections to serve men, women, and high net worth customers.
D Anand, general manager, Personal Banking Group, QIB, said that the new branch brings a diverse range of premium QIB products and services to customers in addition to an ATM and CDM (cash deposit machine), which offers 24-hour service and access to all their accounts.
The main banking hall has an open-plan layout for welcoming space while the use of colours adds to the modern business environment. There is also a dedicated Tamayuz centre that would cater to the demands of affluent customers.
A special section for ladies allows them to enjoy an atmosphere of complete privacy, while also being able to use a separate entrance from outside the branch.
Anand said all the areas of the new branch use of the latest technology. He added that its “new look and feel” reflects QIB’s identity as a “progressive Islamic Bank.”
The Umm Salal branch is open to serve customers starting 7:30am to 1pm from Sundays to Thursdays. Customers at Umm Salal City will be able to open a variety of bank accounts, apply for a suite of financing, debit and credit cards, discuss a host of “Takaful services,” and consult on other Islamic banking services with a specialised team.
“Umm Salal is, indeed, a very promising area situated in the north of Qatar and with a population exceeding 60,000 people. The city is growing rapidly and already features high level housing, malls, and various institutions,” Anand said.
The area will also host one of the 2022 World Cup stadiums, whose design will be a contemporary version of a traditional Arab fort and will be located near one of Qatar’s important forts.
The new branch increases the bank’s countrywide network to 30 local branches and more than 160 ATMs across the country.
This expansion in physical locations complements QIB’s ongoing investments in electronic channels, such as an innovative Internet banking system, QIB’s mobile banking applications, a 24/7 customer service call centre, as well as SMS banking.
“The Um Salal Branch is the seventh offering Tamayuz services to affluent QIB customers and the 13th featuring a ladies centre. QIB Tamayuz customers will have qualified relationship managers that will provide personalised advice and service to meet the affluent customers’ advanced banking needs. A direct Tamayuz call centre 44533000 with agents is available around the clock, seven days a week,” Anand said.
In addition, Tamayuz members will enjoy a number of extra benefits such as an exclusive Platinum Debit MasterCard, a co-branded Qatar Airways and QIB Platinum Visa Credit Card along with a priority pass card granting complimentary access to more than 600 international airport lounges.
Moreover, they will benefit from preferential rates on all financing products, savings, and “Takaful plans, he noted.
“We are happy that we have completed four branches with the new layout, look and feel, and enhanced customer journey. And we promise our customers to open new branches in key areas to be closer to them,” Anand said.
He said QIB’s segmentation strategy is “rapidly moving in the right direction,” with 13 ladies centres that serve them in complete privacy and Tamayuz centres tailored to meet premium clientele needs.
He added that with the company’s continuous investment in the bank’s alternative channels like the Internet banking portal, mobile banking application, call centre and IVR, QIB is confident that customers will enjoy a seamless banking experience.
