A villager offers prayers over the carcass of an elephant lying on a field after it was electrocuted at Singhijhora village near Mahananda Wildlife Sanctury, some 15kms from Siliguri in West Bengal yesterday. The 15-year-old male elephant was found electrocuted in a cornfield, where villagers had erected electric fencing to protect their crops from foraging pachyderms.
