A general view of INS Vikrant aircraft carrier, anchored near a ship breaking yard, after it was moved from the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, yesterday. INS Vikrant which was bought from Britain in 1957 was decommissioned in 1997 and after some 10 years it was turned into a maritime museum at the Mumbai harbour. In March 2014 the Indian Navy sold it to a Mumbai-based ship breaking company which planned to pull it down and sell its scrap. However, the ship will not be broken for now as a petition seeking that it should be converted into a museum is pending in the Supreme Court. The ship helped enforce a naval blockade of East Pakistan - now Bangladesh - during the 1971 war.
