In preparation for the 12th Fina World Swimming Championships (25m), the Doha 2014 Organising Committee recently hosted a two-day Partners Workshop for the official Fina partners to showcase the latest preparations ahead of the championships.During the workshop, the attendees were introduced to Qatar’s state-of-the-art swimming facilities at Hamad Aquatic Centre as well as being provided with a detailed update on all organisational aspects and the preparations being made by the organising committee. In providing detailed plans and completing an official tour of the facilities, the organising committee assured the partners that as the countdown to the championships continues, Qatar is undertaking all measures to ensure that an outstanding world-class event is delivered. The global event expects to welcome thousands of swimming fans and hundreds of newspaper, television and radio sports media personnel.Speaking at the successful conclusion of the workshop, Khaleel al-Jabir, Qatar Swimming Association president and Doha 2014 Organising Committee CEO, said: “This week, an important step has been taken towards the successful hosting of the 12th Fina World Swimming Championships (25m) and we remain right on track with the support of our partners and sponsors to deliver an exceptional championship.”Speaking on the workshop and the Doha tour, Peter Hall, head of marketing at Fina, said: “The Fina Partners workshop is an important occasion for the championships, providing Fina’s sponsoring partners with information that is key to them in making informed decisions about how they will get involved in the championships.” Two of the official Fina Partners present were Yakult and Arena. A representative of Yakult (a probiotic dairy drink) said: “We are sincerely pleased that these championships will be held in the exciting city of Doha where modernity and history are fused. We look forward to supporting the championships through providing our beverages to the participants.” Giuseppe Musciacchio, general manager (brand development) of Arena, a leading swimwear company, said: “Arena will support these championships as best we can with commitment and enthusiasm, characteristics that have distinguished us for over 40 years in the history in swimming, and wish the organising committee the best of luck in its work.”The international event will take place at the Hamad Aquatic Centre and more than 1,000 elite swimmers representing over 180 countries will be welcomed for the five-day competition. Doha will play host to the Fina Swimming World Cup, Doha (August 27-28) as well as the 3rd Fina Aquatics Conference (November 29 to December 1) directly ahead of the 12th Fina World Swimming Championships (25m).
