Emir chairs economic affairs panel meeting

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who is also Chairman of the Supreme Council For Economic Affairs and Investment (SCEAI), yesterday presided over the third meeting of the SCEAI of 2014, held at the Emiri Diwan.

The meeting was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani who is also the deputy chairman of the SCEAI .

HE the Minister of Finance Ali Sherif al-Emadi, who is also the SCEAI’s secretary general, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) yesterday that the council discussed items tabled on its agenda and was briefed on its previous decisions and the relevant measures. 

HE al-Emadi added that the agenda included the latest developments related to the industry and petrochemicals affairs and projects of Qatar Petroleum International (QPI).

The Finance Minister said that the agenda also contained a visual presentation on the development of the banking sector in Qatar, where HH the Emir directed Qatar Central Bank (QCB) to work out a strategy and an action plan for the development of this sector to have a greater role in the economic development process. 

HE al-Emadi said that the meeting also discussed the proposal that the economic zones company, affiliated to Qatar authority for the development of small and medium enterprises, undertakes the development process of Al-Kraana industrial area. The SCEAI agreed on it.
