Qatargas backs fourth national internal auditing conference
Qatargas has extended its support to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)’s Qatar Chapter as a platinum sponsor of the fourth National Conference on Internal Auditing.The event will be held from May 25 to 27 at Hilton Doha under the patronage of HE the Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.This was announced in a brief ceremony held at Qatargas’s Doha head office, which was attended by Mansour Rashid al-Naimi, public relations manager at Qatargas, and Hassan Yousef al-Mulla, president of IIA-Qatar. Commenting on Qatargas’s support to the conference, al-Naimi said: “We are delighted to support the Qatar Chapter of the globally-recognised Institute of Internal Auditors in organising this event of national importance. We hope our support to this conference will provide a platform for the country’s audit community to share the latest techniques and approaches in internal auditing and update their knowledge. “This sponsorship comes in accordance with our strategy to support our community, with particular focus on education across various disciplines and is aligned with the basic pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.” On his part, al-Mulla said: “We are very pleased to accept this sponsorship from Qatargas, which supports the continuous educational and training programme designed by IIA-Qatar to help our members keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the internal audit profession. “We expect the large participation of students from Qatar’s institutions and Qatari trainees from government organisations. Internal audit professionals in Qatar will benefit from this conference as they strive for continuous development to stay abreast of growing challenges and complexities in their endeavour to support their respective organisations’ contribution towards Qatar National Vision 2030.” The theme of this year’s conference is “Are we on track?”, referring to achieving Qatar National Vision 2030. More than 25 international speakers sourced from around the world will present their thoughts and research on matters of interest for auditors, accountants, risk managers, IT professionals and others. Over a period of three days, IIA-Qatar - in co-operation with the Scientific Accounting Association and Qatar Certified Public Accountants Association - will bring together a pool of renowned experts in their fields to share knowledge and practical experience. Different sessions are planned specially for contract, project, procurement functions as well as for discussing fraud and cyber security threats.
