Chaos after traffic signal at Al Khartiyat removed
The decision of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), to cancel Al Khartiyat traffic signal located on the intersection of Al Khartiyat and Wadissalimiyas street has caused traffic disruption in the area, local daily Arrayah has reported.
In the absence of the signal, vehicles clog the roundabout that is located after the traffic signals, especially in the peak hours.
Qataris who daily travel on this road have mentioned that Ashghal’s claim that the signal has been cancelled to enable smooth traffic flow on Wadissalimiya street was not true.
“Instead, traffic is paralysed in the area and the motorists are forced many times to make risky diversions from left to right and vice versa to reach their destinations or otherwise take U-turns and a different path,” a citizen complained to the daily.
Several citizens have urged Ashghal to reconsider the cancellation of the traffic signal “as the objectives behind the decision have not been met and instead aggravated the traffic congestion in the area,” it added.
