These two events are the most prestigious flat races in the world for Thoroughbreds and Pure Arabians. The stake money for Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe has been raised from 4.8mn euros to 5mn, while the Qatar Arabian World Cup will offer 1mn euros, a jump of 300,00.Celebrated as the most esteemed race in Europe, the 93rd edition of QPAT will be the battle ground for the best Thoroughbreds in the world. The best horses and jockeys will take part in the event which is expected to be witnessed by more than 60,000 spectators in Paris during the richest racing weekend at the Longchamp racecourse.Qatar tasted their first success at the Arc when Al Shaq Racing’s Treve clinched the prestigious race in 2013.The seventh edition of the Qatar Arabian World Cup for Pure Arabians is deemed the world championship for Pure Arabians. Remarkably, Qatari owned horses had dominated in the championship until 2012 before being stopped by UAE challenger Mushrae in 2013. HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani owned General won in 2009 and 2010 and later HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani owned Areej and Mkeefa continued the winning trend for the hosts. In the inaugural race in 2008, Qatar’s Dr Rashid al-Marri owned Nil Blanc came a tantalizing close second to Lahib. A top class field will once again assemble for the 2,000-metres contest.
