Qatar Cup trophy to go on tour; prizes up for grabs

The newly-launched Qatar Cup trophy, which was unveiled to the world on Monday, will go on a tour of the city giving the fans across the city of Doha a chance to marvel at the new design and have a photo opportunity with the trophy.

The tournament will be played between the top four teams of the recently-concluded Qatar Stars League (QSL) over two Saturdays — April 19 and 26, 2014. The 2013-2014 QSL was won by Lekhwiya with El Jaish, Al Sadd and Al Sailiya completing the top four.

A fan zone, which will feature the Qatar Cup trophy which has a golden façade and stands at 57 cm, will be set up between April 20 and 22 at Souq Waqif. Also at the zone will be entertainment and fun activities.

The trophy will then move to Katara between April 23 and 25.

The fan zone at both the locations will be open from 5pm-10pm and will also have a ticket booth for the much-anticipated Qatar Cup.

On the day of the final — April 26 — there will be a fan zone at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium from 3pm-5pm. Once again, fans will have catering and entertainment to enjoy the evening.

On match days, shows and entertainment will start inside the stadium 5pm onwards and there will be some great prizes for the spectators.

A large screen outside the stadium will be available for anyone who wants to enjoy the match, but does not have the ticket.

Hassan Rabia al-Kuwari, head of Corporate Communications, announced prizes worth two million Qatari Riyals for fans attending the inaugural Qatar Cup.

For the two semi-finals, there will be a raffle of a car each. There will be five more cars up for grabs during the final.

In addition, fans will have a chance to win as many as 120 electronic gadgets and hand-held devices, two jet skis, four motorbikes and 10 bicycles.
