$25mn grant to fund new Lebanese library

Qatar and Lebanon signed a protocol of an agreement based on which HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani will grant the Lebanese Ministry of Culture $25mn to fund a new national library.  Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Hamad Mubark Almari and Lebanese Minister of Culture Remon Ariji signed the agreement. For his part, Ariji stressed the importance of signing the agreement that will fund the new national library project. He added that the co-operation reflected the strong ties between the two countries and their keenness on cultural exchange.

Inspectors seize fake cosmetics

Inspectors from the Consumer Protection Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce have seized counterfeit cosmetic products that carried the name of a well-known international brand, Mac, it was announced in a statement yesterday. The goods were seized from some popular commercial outlets in the country. The inspectors sent samples of the products to the authorities concerned for conducting tests to ascertain if they were original or fake goods. The test results confirmed that the seized items were counterfeit ones. The matter was then referred to the competent legal authorities for further action against those responsible.
