Exercise equipment in dilapidated state

Dear Sir,

It was inspiring to read the article titled ‘Instilling a passion for fitness among residents’ in Gulf Times (April 13).

I was one of the direct beneficiaries of this facility at Doha Corniche. Last week, one early morning when I visited the exercise area after a three-month gap, I was shocked to find many of the equipment in a dilapidated condition.

These equipment were a boon to many users and helped present a sporting image of Doha to frequenting visitors. In the absence of monitoring and repair by concerned authorities, it’s now an eyesore.

The onus lies with users of such public facility, whose genuine and proper use of free facilities would really encourage sports / municipal authorities to show up their interest in expanding the theme to several other places.

A fitness enthusiast. (guruzinbox@gmail.com)

Dear Sir,

This is to say a big ‘’thank you’’ to all the staff of Hamad Hospital, including doctors, paramedics, nurses, supporting personnel for providing thorough care with excellent treatment facilities during my short stay in the hospital.
