Total recently launched the first session of its bi-annual seminar entitled ‘Total in Qatar, our common challenges’, where employees received updates on the company’s initiatives in innovation and technology, research and development, solar energy, and training and development.
During the event, Total E&P Qatar managing director and group representative Guillaume Chalmin delivered an overview of the company’s 2013 performance and its direction in future.
“This seminar is very important to us as it helps to create a positive workplace environment and it also increases the enthusiasm among employees, as everyone becomes well-informed about the various initiatives undertaken by Total,” Chalmin said.
He added that the seminar “is a productive tool for each department to promote their work, share experiences, and to understand the goals of the company all over the world, as well as in Qatar.”
The seminar also presented the results of the Total Survey 2013 conducted by the Human Resources Department. The survey, which is conducted every two years and comprises all Total companies worldwide, is a management tool that provides insights into prevailing workplace environment, measure employee engagement, and identify areas of improvement.
Total’s commitment to solar energy was also highlighted in an interactive session and was focused on solar activities of the company and on “SunPower,” one of the world’s leading energy operators where Total has a 66% stake.
The event was concluded by Total Research Centre Qatar’s (TRC-Q) Research and Development (R&D) team, which shed light on Total’s innovation in research, development and technology, specifically on the current activities undertaken in Qatar.
Total said the TRC-Q has already applied for two patents last year in the field of geochemistry and will be applying for a third patent this year.
