Laffan Refinery 2nd phase stone laying on April 1

The Laffan Refinery operations team is seen the control room of LR1 and LR2. Qatargas will be holding the stone-laying ceremony for the second phase of the Laffan Refinery on April 1 at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Salman Ashkanani, chief operating officer, Refinery Ventures at Qatargas, who led journalists at the refinery facility during a media tour on Tuesday, announced the start of the LR2 construction next month saying, “it will greatly enhance Qatar’s capacity to satisfy its energy needs.” Qatargas CEO Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani had earlier said: “Laffan Refinery 1 and 2 will build a bridge between the present and future generations of Qatar by optimising the country’s natural resources and fostering sustainable growth.” A pipeline from the refinery going to the Hamad International Airport is currently in the tender phase, a Woqod representative announced at the tour.
