Certification as career development facilitators (CDF) has been awarded to five Qatar University (QU) staff members of the Career Services Centre (CSC) following an in-depth training programme delivered by Front Rowe Consulting.

CDF certification is awarded by the National Career Development Association (NCDA), a US-based, internationally recognised leader in developing criteria for professions in career development.

Unit head for Student Employment and Support Services Maha Masoud al-Marri, unit head for Career Development Nada Asadollah Emadi, unit head for Employer Services Arij Boaujila, and career counsellors Ghadeer Mohamed Zainal and Jihed Farhat Laabar successfully completed 120-plus instructional hours training on career development facilitation and submitted final projects based on their duties at the centre.

“The course was rich with career-related material and information about the labour market and its interactive teaching methods helped me effectively collaborate with colleagues and employers from different work settings,” Arij said. “I am proud to have finally attained a professional certification that is internationally recognised in the career development field.”

“The training provided me with the skills and knowledge I need for my role as the unit head. I am now better equipped to help others work on developing a clear career path, reaching their career goals and planning their future,” Nada said.

“The Career Services Centre believes that a CDF who is serious about helping other people better recognise their career potential needs superior training,” Ghadeer said. “I am very pleased and excited that I have earned the CDF certification, which I believe will advance the general knowledge I had before the training course.”

Haya al-Attiyah, QU associate V-P for Student Success and Development, said: “Since the job market has turned global and become progressively more complex, there is a great need for individuals who are aware of the basics of career development. In providing this training for its staff to enhance their skills and capabilities, CSC is demonstrating its commitment to ensuring that the best career services and resources are made available to students and alumni in planning their careers and obtaining meaningful employment.”
