Qatar condemns attack on Bahraini policemen

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned and denounced the explosion which targeted a number of policemen in Daih area in Bahrain, killing three of them. |
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said: “This crime is contrary to all moral and human values and principles”.
The statement reiterated Qatar’s consistent position which calls for joining hands to eradicate all forms of violence and taking decisive steps to bring the perpetrators to book.
It stressed that Bahrain’s security is linked with that of Qatar’s.
The statement also extended Qatar’s condolences to the Government of Bahrain and to the families of the victims who lost their lives as a result of this “heinous crime”.
Earlier yesterday Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said that three police personnel were killed in a ‘terror’ blast.
Bahrain News Agency reported the Interior Ministry as saying that “three police personnel died in a terror blast in Daih while police were dispersing rioters”.
The ministry said that the “police dispersed a breakaway group of thugs who diverted from funeral route in Daih to riot.”
Legal controls for real estate brokerage sector soon
The Ministry of Justice has said that in co-operation with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, legal controls and executive procedures will be put in place to facilitate development of the real estate brokerage sector, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.
These controls and procedures are also needed to protect the profession from factors that may cause damage to the real estate market itself, it has been observed in a statement in response to an article published by the daily on this issue.
The two ministries are currently co-ordinating efforts to take necessary action for the establishment of legal controls and executive procedures, the statement pointed out.
Further, the Ministry of Justice has said that in co-ordination with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, it will shortly take necessary steps to protect real estate brokerage offices and organise the work of brokers in such a manner that it provides an integrated legal framework for the further strengthening of Qatar’s real estate sector, according to the report.
Concern expressed over recruiting European maids
A number of female citizens have said they are against the recruitment of domestic workers from European countries, as hiring them could have “harmful repercussions” for the Qatari community, local Arabic daily Al Arab reported. They have called for the relaxation of visa norms to hire domestic workers from the Philippines and Ethiopia, who they say are more suitable for the local community and respect the established habits and traditions. Officials of labour recruitment offices have also urged the authorities to look into the matter in view of the high demand for Filipino and Ethiopian house workers among Qatari as well as expatriate families. Further, they said that recruitment of housemaids from some European countries may not be feasible due to salary issues and objections from the country’s women.
