Twinning Agreement signed between Doha and Brasilia

A Twinning Agreement was signed here yesterday between Doha and Brasilia.

The agreement was signed to mark the celebration of the Cultural Year ‘Qatar-Brazil 2014’  .

It was signed by Director of Doha Municipality Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Sayed and the Governor of the Federal District of Brasilia Agnelo dos Santos Queiroz Filho, in the presence of HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari and the Brazilian Ambassador in Doha Hildebrando Tadeu Valadares.

In an address following the signing ceremony, the director of Doha Municipality lauded the relations  between the State of Qatar and Brazil, which he said is reflected in the Twinning Agreement.

For his part, the Brazilian official said that signing the Twinning Agreement between the two cities  contributes to strengthening ties of co-operation between Qatar and Brazil.

He poined out that this co-operation will include cultural, sports, educational and environmental fields.

Under the agreement, the two cities will co-operate in areas of health awareness through exchanging visits by practising medical doctors in addition to exchanging expertise in gardening and landscaping.

The two cities will also develop joint programmes between Qatari and Brazilian experts to share knowledge and provide training in order to improve performance in the sectors of construction, health, education and waste treatment.

The Cultural Year ‘Qatar - Brazil 2014’ is a celebration of cultural and diplomatic ties between Qatar and Brazil, and is a programme that includes many activities to be held throughout 2014 in both countries.
