Kejriwal is a hero
Dear Sir,
With reference to Jawahar Bharathan’s letter “Chip Off The Old Block” (Gulf Times, February 9), I think he is “talking” on behalf of some group or political party in India. I feel he is taking a prejudiced stand.
Does Bharathan know anything about the calibre of a person like Kejriwal ? Does he know that he is the recipient of nine awards for his work in various fields ? Does he think that the Magsaysay award, which Kejriwal has won, has no value? Does he consider the other awards bestowed on Kejriwal such as the “Indian of the Year”, “Eminent Leadership”, etc are insignificant?
Does he know who initiated the Right to Know and Transparent Governance movement in India?
When someone comes forward to “save” India, people should encourage him. And not to discourage him. Bharathan criticises the “failure” of 49 days of Kejriwal’s performance; then he should show the courage to evaluate the last 67 years’ governance in India.
The present political platform of India needs urgent repair and one can see in Kejriwal a second Mahatma Gandhi capable of initiating a paradigm change by which we can achieve the actual “Swaraj” (a truly free nation) .
I anticipate a day when our great grandchildren in India will read in their school text books the following sentences as part of a lesson: “Once upon a time, there lived a great man named Arvind Kejriwal in India. It was he who, by his revolutionary wisdom, blessed us with a peaceful and honest political ambience, as we enjoy today in our country.”
