MICT, subsidiaries celebrate with over 600 participants

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MICT) and its subsidiaries - Malomatia, Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn), Qatar Satellite Company (Es’hailSat) and Qatar Assistive Technology Centre (Mada) - celebrated National Sport Day with a sports and recreational programme for the staff and their families at Park 65, Dafna area.Participants dressed in T-shirts with logos of MICT and its subsidiaries opened the programme by warming up and jogging around the park while women warmed up with some yoga exercises. This was followed by a bunch of sports and recreational activities in which everyone took part individually and in groups, such as a soccer tournament, in addition to several activities for the staff and children.The event, attended by more than 600 employees and their family members, also featured competitions in table tennis and tug of war, plus some traditional Qatari activities that reflected the ancient heritage of the country.The programme also featured special family activities and challenges. The victorious families were given awards and the participants were also treated to healthy meals.People with disabilities from Mada Centre joined the event from early morning. The programme witnessed the large participation of staff from MICT and its subsidiaries, led by senior officials. The participants were encouraged to share their best event photographs via Instagram.“National Sport Day reflects the vision of the wise leadership for encouraging sports due to its importance for individuals and the society. It is also one aspect of investing in human capital,” said Faleh al-Naemi, Assistant Secretary-General of MICT’s Shared Services. “The ministry was keen to participate in the third edition of National Sport Day to raise awareness about the importance of sports and its key role in fostering development.”“Es’hailSat’s participation in Qatar’s National Sport Day reflects the company’s deep belief in the importance of fitness and sports for healthier bodies and minds and stronger inter-employee relationships. Participation in National Sport Day activities serves the sports dimension of Qatar’s National Vision, wherein Qatar seeks to become the first and most favourite destination for hosting and organising the world’s biggest sports events,” said Ali al-Kuwari, CEO of Es’hailSat.“National Sport Day has become a unique occasion celebrated by Qatar every year to emphasise the importance of fitness and sports, which should be a part of our daily calendar because the type of work we are doing requires us to spend a lot of time in front of computers,” said Yousef al-Naama, CEO of Malomatia. “Malomatia’s participation reflects the institutional partnership with all state agencies in order to improve sports for better bodies and more active minds by building a human being who is capable of participating in the course of development and progress on the way to fulfilling Qatar National Vision 2030.”“Qatar National Sport Day is a great initiative of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to encourage and support the wellbeing of our nation.
