The Ministry of Business and Trade (MBT) signed yesterday a co-operation agreement with the Voluntary Committee for Employing People with Special Needs (VCEPSN).

The agreement would be valid for a complete calendar year and could be renewed at the mutual consent of both parties. It is aimed at engaging the people with special needs into the normal professional work environment and develop their potential by providing them with real training opportunities in different fields to get proper jobs.

“The agreement stipulates that MBT will give training for three months to people with disability on some office and administrative skills that suit their physical and mental capabilities,” pointed out Maha Mohamed al-Nesf, director of Ministry of Business and Trade Human Resources Department. Refresher programmes could also be held.

She added that trainees will be granted a monthly financial reward throughout the training period based on regular attendance. Further, every trainee would get a graduation certificate upon successfully completing the training. Such graduates would have priority in any future recruitment process.

“We do not discriminate between people with disability and others in the recruitment process. They have the full rights and duties like normal employees at Ministry of Business and Trade,” she stressed.

The agreement was signed by Sultan Rashid al-Khatir, undersecretary of Ministry of Business and Trade and Kahlid bin Saeed al-Shuaiby, chairman of VCEPSN, in the presence of other members of the committee.

“Ministry of Business and Trade is committed to deliver all its duties towards the different categories of the society  and this agreement is part of its commitment to help such people integrate within the society and labour market and give them opportunity for employment within and outside Ministry of Business and Trade,” said al-Khatir.
