Alfardan Automobiles posts 12% rise in 2013 sales for BMW, MINI
Building on an “impressive” year-on-year performance, Alfardan Automobiles achieved a 12% increase in sales for BMW and MINI in 2013. |
The BMW Group importer in Qatar ranked among the top five growth markets for BMW Group Middle East, signalling the “importance and strength” of the Qatari market and the “growing appetite” for luxury vehicles in Qatar.
The BMW 3 Series led importer sales in the premium mid-size segment and accounting for a sales increase of 53% compared to 2012. The flagship BMW 7 Series scored high with a 19% sales increase compared to 2012.
The pioneer of the Sports Activity Vehicle segment, the BMW X5 was also amongst the top selling models for 2013 accounting for an 8% growth.
The BMW 6 Series, the luxury cars, which offer unparalleled levels of premium comfort and power also achieved strong growth since its launch in Qatar in 2012.
The series of convertibles, Coupe’s and Gran Coupés saw sales increase by 91% in 2013. Rounding off the success was the BMW X3 and BMW 1 Series which grew by 91% and 54% respectively.
Commenting on the company’s exceptional performance, Alfardan Automobiles general manager Mohamed Kandeel said, “Our continuous growth year after year demonstrates the success of BMW Group vehicles here in Qatar. Furthermore, the desire of our Qatari customers for the best in motoring is clearly evident by the growth of our high-end models. The 2013 growth we achieved reflects our commitment in offering our customers the latest and best vehicles and we are confident that we will continue to carry forward this success into 2014.”
Kandeel said, “MINI enjoyed yet another successful year in Qatar. The MINI Cooper S Roadster saw exceptional growth since its launch in 2012 - offering cutting-edge design, typically MINI characteristics, and an appealing driving experience.”
MINI sales climbed 18% in Qatar securing double-digit growth for 2013. The extensive range of vehicles in its portfolio is a strong contributing factor to its success in the market.
Launched at the end of 2012, MINI Cooper S Roadster – MINI’s first convertible two-seater - achieved a sales increase of 80%. The MINI Cooper S and the MINI Cooper S ALL4 Countryman also continued to drive the MINI brand in Qatar with a 38% and 10% sales increase respectively. The MINI brand is poised for even further growth in 2014 with the introduction of the new MINI Hatch in March, the company said.
