Qatar-France ties discussed
HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi holding talks with former French prime minister Dominique de Villepin in Doha yesterday. They discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them besides issues of common concern.
Top UN official on Doha visit
HE the Advisory Council Speaker Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi met the UN rapporteur for the independence of judges and lawyers, Gabriella Knaul, and her accompanying delegation in Doha yesterday. Talks dealt with matters of mutual concern. The meeting was attended by Advisory Council Secretary-General Fahd bin Mubarak al-Khayareen.
Qatar-Belgium ties in focus
Joelle Milquet, the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Equal Opportunity, has received a written message from HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani pertaining to bilateral relations and means of developing them. Qatar’s Ambassador to Belgium Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani handed the message when he met Joelle Milquet in Brussels yesterday.
Emir receives letter from Bulgarian leader
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has received a letter from the President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, dealing with bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.
The message was received by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, during his meeting yesterday with the Charge d’Affaires of the Bulgarian embassy in Doha Miroslav Zafirov.
Bosnian chief of staff meets Qatar’s ambassador
Bosnian Chief of the Joint Staff Major General Anto Jelec yesterday met Qatar’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Rashid bin Mubarak al-Kuwari. During the meeting, they reviewed means of developing bilateral ties.
Qatar-Liberia trade relations discussed
Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Axel M Addy conferred with Qatar’s Ambassador to Liberia Mohamed Ismail al-Imadi.
Talks dealt with bilateral relations and means of bolstering them in the fields of trade, industry and investment. A set of other available investment opportunities was also taken up.
Malian president arrives today
President of Mali Ibrahim Boubacar Keita will arrive in Doha today evening on an official visit to Qatar.
Georgian FM receives message
Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze has received a written message from HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah pertaining to bilateral relations and means of promoting them.
Acting Charge D’affaires at Qatar’s embassy in the Georgian capital Yunis Hamza handed over the letter during a meeting with the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Jalaganya.
Algerian minister meets ambassador
Algerian Minister of Communication, M Abdelkader Messahel, met Qatar’s Ambassador to Algeria Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz as-Sihlawi. They discussed relations between the two countries and means of bolstering them.
Indian mission to mark Republic Day
To celebrate India’s 65th Republic Day, a ceremony will be held at the Indian embassy (No 19, Street No 828, Wadi Al Neel, Al Hilal Area, Doha) on Sunday. It is scheduled to start at for 8.30am.
India’s Ambassador Sanjiv Arora will hoist the national flag on the occasion. He will also read out the message of the Indian president to his compatriots. Indian school students in Qatar will render patriotic songs and perform cultural items.
The envoy has invited all Indian nationals to attend the flag-hoisting ceremony.
QNA to launch news information centre
Qatar News Agency (QNA) has announced that it will launch the largest news information centre under the name ‘News Knowledge Community’.
The aim of this project, the first of its kind, is to build a huge information network to be selected from all print and audio-visual media as well as research centres.
QNA organised the first seminar on the project yesterday at Al Qassar Hotel. It was attended by a number of officials from state’s ministries, corporations and authorities.
