Falcons assert dominance in event

RIGHT: A participant releases his falcon during the festival.Yesterday, on the second day of the 5th Qatar International Festival of Falcons and Hunting 2014, the “Al Tal’a” (Pollen) competition was launched in the morning and the Hadad Al Tahaddi (Hadad Challenge) competition resumed in the evening.The festival at Sabkhat Marma in the Sealine area off Mesaieed is being held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani in co-operation with the Katara Cultural District.In the Hadad Al Tahaddi, competing falcons tried to score the same results of the first day despite the large number of the carrier-pigeons used this year.On the second consecutive day, the “Shawahain” falcons proved their dominance over the carrier-pigeons.Competitions to test the prowess of the falcons in various other categories are also being held as part of the festival.
