Court jails man for theft using false identity

The Criminal Court sentenced a young man to one year in jail for committing thefts impersonating as a policeman.

The Public Prosecution placed  the accused on trial under Articles 1, 170 and 343 of the Penal Code.

The lawsuit started with a complaint  at the Industrial Area police station about the suspect stealing QR1,000 and a mobile phone from a worker.

Later on, the suspect was arrested  for another theft in the same style.

The court convicted the suspect in accordance with Article 170 of the Penal Code for using the false identity  of a public officer (Police) and Article 343 of the same Law for committing  theft.
