PICTURE: Nasar TKBy Sports Reporter/DohaAl Shamal dunked 17 points in the last five minutes of the match, to stage a comeback against Al Wakrah during their Qatar Men’s Basketball League match at Al Gharafa Sports Club here yesterday.Shamal won the match 86-80.While Shamal ended the first quarter leading 24-17, Wakrah managed to hold on to a minor lead right till the 35th minute with the score at 73-69 in favour of the latter.Abdelrahman Moftah top-scored for Shamal with 25 points and his effort included seven two-pointers, two three-pointers and five free-throws.Tyvon Williams scored 16, Ismaiel Hossam and Tommy Smith pitched in with 14 each, and Brian McKenzie dunked 12 points for Shamal.For Wakrah, Johnson Darlon and Wilson Kenneth scored 25 points each while Taylor Anthony added 18 points.In the second match of the day, El Jaish posted a resounding 100-69 win over Qatar Sports Club. Shawn Taggart top-scored with 28 points for the winners with Ndoye Alioune Sy Badra pitching in with 17 points.For Qatar Sports Club, Leslie Chauncey impressed with his 22-point effort.Tomorrow, Al Ahli and Arabi will play out at 5:30pm followed by the Al Sadd-Al Gharafa tie.
