Eid Charity has helped 100 young men and women to marry at a group wedding at West Darfur State in Sudan through its local partners there.

The charity had earlier conducted a pioneer project to help young people to marry. The cost of the project, which amounted to QR250,000, was donated by a Qatari philanthropist.

Some 50 young men from West Darfur State from the students of religious studies, clergymen and the poor people were selected. Each young man was given QR5,000 as a sum to help him out for the marriage expenses.

“This project is part of our humanitarian efforts to alleviate the burden of marriage expenses to enhance the values of community solidarity,” said Ali bin Khalid al-Hajiri, director of the project department at Eid Charity.

According to al-Hajiri, the project included an awareness training course on marital life for the targeted young people, providing some furniture and clothes to the newly  married couples.

One of the bridegrooms delivered an appreciation speech at the wedding ceremony on behalf of his colleagues and thanked Eid Charity for its laudable efforts in making their lives easier.
