HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz al-Kuwari has honoured the winners of the 4th Youth Theatre Festival.
The event was organised by the Ministry’s Youth Activities and Events Department from Dec 22 to 29 at the Katara Drama Theatre.
Al-Tanboura, a play produced and directed by Ibrahim Abdul Raheem, grabbed the festival’s most important awards, while Fahid al-Baker won the Best Director prize for Unknown Soldier play. The play written by Ali al-Zeidi is one of the seven participating works that were selected in the current-year’s edition.
The festival featured performances of seven dramatic works as interpreted by local clubs and youth centres.
The Minister said that the festival came within the framework of the ongoing activities organised by the ministry to enhance the role of youth, develop their potential and qualify them socially and culturally, especially given that they represent the resources of this nation, and are the builders of its future and the driving force for development and progress in society.
The Youth Theatre Festival, first held during the celebration of Doha Capital of Arab Culture 2010, has become one of the most important regional and Arab theatrical festivals.
