ExxonMobil Qatar’s training programme ‘Tamayoz’, hosted 47 courses for more than 500 participants in several international locations, such as Doha, Houston, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, throughout 2013. ExxonMobil Qatar offers the courses exclusively for its partners and joint ventures in Qatar. Topics of study included disciplines such as leadership and personal effectiveness, project management, technical, commercial, operations excellence and safety, health and environment with each session specifically tailored towards different experience levels. Bart Cahir, president and general manager, ExxonMobil Qatar, said that the ultimate goal with the Tamayoz programme is to develop leaders and technical experts who can add value locally and compete globally. “The skills our partners and joint ventures are learning through these courses not only help develop their ability to do their current jobs, they ultimately help develop management and leadership qualities in people who will head teams and companies in the future. Given the incredible number of classes and participants served by Tamayoz in 2013, we are proud to say it represents a significant contribution and commitment to the human development pillar of Qatar National Vision,” he added. The courses brought together participants from Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas and RasGas with ExxonMobil’s global subject matter experts who boast decades of experience in the industry and also train ExxonMobil’s global workforce. Attendees were selected by their organisations for each training course, requiring the recommendation of a manager and other prerequisites. The calendar for December 2013 alone saw a Well Testing course held early in the month in Houston, as well as two advanced maintenance planning workshops in Ras Laffan for 50 participants and a project controls overview held in Houston mid-month, which represents a small snapshot of the volume and range offered by Tamayoz. There will be more training courses with ever-greater diversity in 2014. To date more than 25 sessions are already scheduled with many more to be confirmed. All Tamayoz training programmes are an extension of ExxonMobil’s commitment to share learning and disseminate knowledge gained through its own industry expertise with partners and individuals in Qatar’s energy sector. The Tamayoz programme is a key ExxonMobil undertaking that conveys the company’s direct support for Qatar National Vision 2030 and the development of its national workforce.
