Samia Hassan Hussain stole the limelight as hosts Qatar clinched a bronze and a silver medal on the second day Rhythmic Gymnastics Arab Championship for women at the Tunisian School in Doha on Tuesday.
The local girl, who gave the hosts a flying start by winning a bronze medal on the first day of the championship on Monday in the All-Round final, continued with an impressive show by clinching a silver medal in the apparatus ball event and then followed it up by claiming a bronze in the apparatus hoop.
In the apparatus ball, Mais Ghazouani of Tunisia walked away with the gold medal while Samia of Qatar and Sofia Moussaoui of Morocco had to settle for the silver medal.
In the apparatus hoop, Ghazouani topped the event to pick the third gold medal in the championship. The Tunisian, winner in the apparatus ball, had won the all-round event on Monday. Moroccan Moussaoui had to settle for the silver, the third one for her in the championship.
Qatar has one silver and one bronze going into the final day. Tunisia leads the medals tally with three gold medals closely followed by Morocco with three silver medals while Qatar is third. Four countries Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia and hosts Qatar taook part in the championship.
