Qatar’s embassies hold special events to mark National Day

Qatar’s embassies in several countries across the world hosted special receptions to celebrate Qatar National Day.The embassy of Qatar in Washington hosted a reception which was attended by US officials, Congressmen, high-level dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps and members of the Qatari community in the United States. In Amman Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan Zayed bin Said al-Khayareen has hosted a function which was attended by former Jordanian prime minister Samir al-Rifae who is also chairman of the political and foreign affairs committee at the House of Notables, former prime minister and speaker of House Notables and Chamber of Representatives Taher al-Masri, a number of ministers, notables, deputies and representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to Jordan. Representatives of Jordanian tribes, camps, trade, industry, banks media men, universities, municipalities, members of the Jordanian-Qatari Friendship Societies, charitable organisations and Qatari students in Jordan also attended the reception. Ambassador Zayed bin Said al-Khayareen congratulated HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani on the occasion of National Day. In a speech during the event, Ambassador al-Khayareen said on the occasion of this anniversary, the State of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, continues the drive started by HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani with further achievements and the provision of means of progress, prosperity and better future for the Qatari people, and to enhance the status and role of Qatar at Arab and regional levels. The participants expressed their wishes to HH the Emir, government and people of Qatar.Qatar Ambassador to Hungary Abdullah Hussein al-Jabir hosted a reception which was attended by a number of high-ranking Hungarian officials and dignitaries including the National Economy Undersecretary, Director of the Politburo at the President’s office, senior government officials, parliament members, ranking military commanders, university presidents and faculty deans, members of Arab and foreign diplomatic corps accredited to Hungary and members of the Arab and Muslim community in Hungary. In Santo Domingo Qatar’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic Khamis Butti al-Sahouti has hosted a reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day. The function’s activities included the opening of a special hall for the State of Qatar at the Christopher Columbus Museum, which is one of the most important museums in Dominican Republic. The hall displayed models depicting the Qatari heritage and traditions such as Qatari traditional costume, utensils, tools used in pearl-diving, a model of a traditional dhow and an ancient scale. In a speech he gave on the occasion, Ambassador al-Sahouti thanked the Dominican Republic for its assistance in opening the hall.In Nairobi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Kenya Ibrahim bin Mohamed al-Abdullah hosted a which was attended by Kenyan Mining Minister Najib Balala, as a representative of the Kenyan government, Minister of Energy and Oil David Churchil, a number of representatives of government agencies and the Parliament, ambassadors of Arab and Western countries, businessmen, international organisations, UN offices and directors of bodies accredited to Nairobi. In a speech at the function, Ambassador al-Abdullah welcomed the audience congratulating HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the Qatari people . For his part, the representative of the Kenyan government gave a speech on the occasion in which he expressed his thanks to HH the Emir and the Government of Qatar for the contribution it provide to strengthen relations between the two countries. Qatar’s embassy in Cyprus has hosted a special reception to mark the National Day. The function was attended by Foreign Minister of Cyprus Ioannis Kasoulidis, a number of party leaders, prominent society dignitaries, Cypriot officials, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Nicosia, Cypriot businessmen as well as Arab and foreign businessmen residing in Cyprus. On the occasion a photography exhibition was held to depict the urban and civilisational development achieved in Qatar.In Nouakchott, Qatar’s Ambassador to Mauritania Abdul Rahman bin Ali al-Ajaj al-Kubaisi hosted a National Day reception. The function was attended by Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation Ahmed Ould Teguedi who, on the occasion, conveyed the greetings and wishes of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani wishing him best of health and the State of Qatar and the Qatari people further progress and prosperity.
