Sheikh Nasser: Highest level of security for every Qatari business.

Ooredoo is adding an important new solution to its portfolio to enable companies to better protect their business.

The Ooredoo Cloud Security Solution provides holistic protection for the web and mobile channels that companies use to exchange vital information. Because it is delivered via the “cloud” – a virtual network managed by Ooredoo on the client’s behalf – IT security teams can instantly create and deploy granular web-based policies to anyone, anywhere and on any device, the company said.

Network security is becoming an increasingly important priority for companies in Qatar and the wider Gulf region, following a stream of high-profile cyber-attacks on public institutions and major enterprises in 2013.

Ooredoo said is working with a number of leading organisations in Qatar, to ensure that the range of solutions and expert advice available continue to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving range of threats emerging in cyberspace.

Ooredoo in partnership with Zservices (Zscaler Middle East Cloud) developed Ooredoo Cloud to provide ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) security solution for businesses. This means that companies can enjoy the most advanced security services without the need for investment in hardware or software infrastructures, and so reducing costs and making the service available for everyone, Ooredoo said.

“Businesses are realising that every form of enterprise is under threat from cyber-attack, either from criminals looking to steal data, or hackers looking to disrupt services for their own ends. We have launched Ooredoo Cloud Security to ensure that every business in Qatar can provide the highest level of security for their employees and data, and we intend to make our nation one of the safest countries in the world to do business online,” said Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, Ooredoo Qatar chief new business officer.

“This solution enables companies to manage online activity wherever people are accessing the Internet, and ensure complete security, regardless of employees’ location or the devices they are using. This gives companies in Qatar peace of mind in an unsettling era, when cyber-crimes are becoming increasingly common,” said Mohammad Flaifel, regional technical director, Middle East, Zservices.

With the Internet now an essential daily tool for business, data security is becoming harder to control for companies, particularly since employees’ e-mail, laptops and smartphones all provide potential points of entry for determined cyber-criminals.

Ooredoo’s Cloud Security offers comprehensive protection for PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets and social media sites, providing features such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam URL filtering, web control, bandwidth control, data loss prevention and full visibility reporting and forensics for business owners.
