Al-Jarrah is Commercial Bank QU Chair

Commercial Bank has announced the appointment of Idries Mohamed al-Jarrah, Professor of Finance at Qatar University’s Department of Finance and Economics, as the Commercial Bank Chair of Banking.  Professor al-Jarrah holds the position of endowed professor and works in Qatar University’s College of Business and Economics.

The newly created Commercial Bank Chair of Banking will lead studies in the field of banking and finance, and ultimately help provide the Qatari banking industry and other financial institutions with suitably qualified graduates. The appointment is in line with the policy of the Supreme Head of Qatar University, which ensures that companies located in Qatar support the University.

Professor al-Jarrah’s responsibilities include developing a research programme in banking and finance, conducting specialised workshops for Commercial Bank staff, teaching courses in banking and finance and supervising student internships at Commercial Bank each summer.
