Hilton Doha has thrown open the doors of its first property, marking the foray of Hilton Worldwide into Qatar.The international hotel group, whose portfolio includes more than 540 hotels in 79 countries, is planning to have a total of four hotels in Qatar in view of the huge potential.The hotel was officially inaugurated on Sunday evening by Sheikh Saoud bin Khaled al-Thani at a ceremony attended by sheikhs, ambassadors, ministers, special guests as well as Hilton Worldwide executive team members.“We have always been committed to Qatar and our current pipeline of four hotels in Doha is a demonstration of our continued interest in this market,” Rudi Jagersbacher, president, Hilton Worldwide, MEA said at the inauguration ceremony.The ceremony was followed by a “Festival of Senses” - a celebration that showcased Hilton Doha’s world-class facilities in a festive setting of food, music and socialising.The new visually stunning 309-room Hilton Doha is located on the headland of the Corniche and boasts a number of leading features including a 750-capacity ballroom, a dedicated conference wing and the first eforea: spa at Hilton in the Middle East.The hotel also features seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms, six restaurants and bars, an outdoor swimming pool, a kids club, a private beach and a view of the Arabian Gulf from every bedroom. Hilton Doha will also open Qatar’s very first Trader Vic’s bar and restaurant.Hilton Doha is a convenient 15-minute drive from the airport and near the heart of Doha’s upscale commercial, retail and diplomatic district, including the famous Souq Waqif and Museum of Islamic Art.“For us being the most attractive hotel with the best service is not enough - we are part of this community and it is important that we are good corporate citizens. Therefore, we hope to play an integral part in positioning Doha as a global city, and also in delivering an international experience rooted in local culture to global travellers,” Jagersbacher said.The “Festival of Senses” brought together various musical and culinary elements to celebrate the launch of Doha’s newest hot spot. Musical acts including the Electric Ladies as well as jazz acts and a pianist serenaded the attendees as they mingled in specially created venues set up all around the property.
