The Contracts and Materials Department of Oryx GTL recently held its second Annual Contractors/Suppliers Forum. The meeting was chaired by Oryx GTL’s chief commercial officer Mohamed Sharif Ibrahim Almushiri.Philip Thorpe-Willett, acting contracts manager, Ibrahim al-Ajlan, materials manager and Gary Frank von Berg, marketing manager, were present. The forum was also attended by the executive management, managers and staff of Oryx GTL’s Commercial Group as well as contractors and suppliers.‘Connect, Exchange, Co-operate’ was the theme of the forum which was aimed at facilitating interaction between Oryx GTL’s contractors and suppliers towards improvement in compliance, practices and business relationship. Yasser Habib, head of procurement, provided an update on improvements discussed from last year’s forum. Mohamed Syafei Ahmad, commercial specialist, gave a presentation on this year’s improvements.Michael Turner, project manager, gave a presentation on ‘Quality of Supervisor on site’ and Yousef Mohaisen, head of payments, provided tips on ‘helping us to pay you’ while Hashim Elhaj, legal counsel, provided an overview of Oryx GTL’s Code of Business Ethics.Johannes Van Der Merwe provided an input on an initiative regarding the ‘Qualified Manufacturer’s List’. Thorpe-Willett gave an update on the ‘Go Green’ initiatives which will help the contractors and supplier reduce their paper usage.
