ExxonMobil Qatar donates QR1mn for American School’s lab

ExxonMobil Qatar has donated more than QR1mn for a high school science laboratory at American School of Doha (ASD), as part of the latter’s 25th anniversary celebration.This was announced by Dr Deborah Welch, director, ASD, and Bart Cahir, president and general manager, ExxonMobil Qatar.The lab will cater to students from ASD’s upper level International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) classes.“Through exposure to this new lab, ASD students and teachers can enhance their knowledge in science and the overall quality of the learning environment,” Dr Welch said. The director recalled that ExxonMobil Qatar had provided foundational support to ASD over the years.“I would like to congratulate ASD and its leadership on an exceptional 25 years in Qatar, and wish them continued success on behalf of our entire community,” said Cahir. “At ExxonMobil, we believe a strong foundation in science and math is critical to ensuring we educate and develop the innovators of tomorrow. With over 200 Qatari students, and more than 70 nationalities in ASD’s student body, we believe some of the world’s future scientists and engineers will be nurtured through this lab,” he stated. As a hands-on facility, the lab will encourage problem-solving and critical thinking skills as students focus on scientific issues especially pertinent to a rapidly developing world. More than 200 students will make use of the facility each academic year.
