The Benetton car with which Michael Schumacher won his first of a record seven Formula One world titles in 1994 is up for auction at Bonhams on December 1. The London-based auctioneers said yesterday the Benetton-Cosworth Ford B194 “is offered in complete running condition following more than two years of painstaking restoration,” along with spares and pit equipment. |
Bonhams gave no estimate but experts believe that the Formula One car will change hands for around 1 million dollars. The price includes a test drive at the Ascari Race Resort in Ronda, Spain, where the car is currently based.
Schumacher won eight season races in 1994 en route to his first world title, including the fateful San Marino Grand Prix in Imola during which Ayrton Senna died in a crash.
