Minister of Youth and Sports to open Aspire4Sport

Aspire4Sport 2013 Conference and Exhibition, the Middle East’s leading sports business platform, will kick-off today at Aspire Dome, Doha, with HE Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali, Minister of Youth and Sports, officially opening the event.

Aspire4Sport, now in its fourth year, has proven to be the gateway to the sports industry, attracting regional businesses to take part in an international setting.

The event has announced the presence of a number of sports legends that include: NBA Legends Shaquille O’Neal, Dennis Rodman and Alonzo Mourning, in addition to heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis, English football icon Alan Shearer and Qatari rally car stars Saeed al-Hajri and Abdulaziz al-Kuwari, as participants in the daily Stars Chat sessions.

A number of leading Qatari and international sports organisations will take part at the enticing sports business industry platform. Among these key organisations are the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, Qatar Football Association, Qatar Olympic Committee, in addition to delegations from FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 and FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.

Commenting on the event, Hamad Saif Buhindi, executive director of Aspire4Sport, said: “Tomorrow marks another step-forward in Qatar’s sports strategy, a primary factor backing the National Vision of the year 2030. Aspire4Sport has always been the premiere event on the regional sports business calendar, and is now becoming one of the key happenings on the global sports agenda.”

Two conferences — ‘Coliseum’ and ‘Host Cities’ — are being organised during the event, in co-ordination with MJR Communications. A number of new technologies and breakthroughs will be revealed during the event.

Delegations from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait will attend the B2B section. Around 700 business matchmaking meetings have already been set at the event.

The sports industry across the Middle East continues to flourish and offers vast opportunities to local, regional and international organisations.

With the country investing heavily in every sector of the economy, including the sports industry, Qatar is seen as an investment hub that is attracting companies from all around the world to come and be part of the overall growth of the sports industry.

The exhibition will start at 2pm and end at 7pm daily from November 16 to 19.
