Julian Smart trained Harran was a runaway winner of the Al Hamla Cup, a Pure Arabian Advanced race, which featured the eight-event card at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club yesterday. The Julian Smart trained Harran was ridden by jockey Richard Mullen and the Englishman thwarted the challenge of Tuyoorna, which finished six lengths behind the winner. |
The trainer and jockey combination of Smart and Mullen had earlier partnered with Al Azuur’s thrilling victory in the local bred Pure Arabian Graduation Plate. Al Azuur beat stablemate Raheel by a shorthead.
Trainer Jassim al-Ghazali was also in the limelight saddling three winners for the day. Millers Wharf 9Yanis Aouabed up) started the winning trend with a comfortable win in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate, while Protect (Stephane LadjadJ) and Inside (Gerakd Avranche) completed the tally for the champion trainer.
