The weekly Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, has praised the Gulf tour undertaken by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Emir visited the GCC member-states from October 28-31. The Emir visited Kuwait, Bahrain , Oman and the UAE.
The tour followed a visit the Emir paid to Saudi Arabia on August 2.
HE the Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud said: “Such a tour reflects due keenness of HH the Emir for further enhancing ties of co-operation with GCC states and having consultations with their leaders and kings on all issues of concern to our Gulf region, our Arab nation and the regional and international matters of joint interest.”
Later the Cabinet discussed topics tabled on the agenda as follows:
n First: Approving a draft Emir Decision to establish and regulate the Police Academy.
Under the provisions of the draft decision, a Police Academy under the Ministry of the Interior, is to be established to qualify police officers.
The college will have a council headed by the Interior Minister, a general manager and one or more competent assistant managers assigned by the Interior Minister. The Academy will award Bachelor’s degree in law and police sciences to its graduates.
n Second: Approving a draft law amending some of the provisions of law No 26 of 2005 on regulating tenders and auctions.
Under this amendment the cabinet may exclude certain entities from the scope of application of the provisions of the law regulating tenders and auctions.
n Third: Approving a draft law on amending the unified customs tariff of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries.
n Fourth: Approving a draft decision of the Minister of Environment on setting conditions for issuing a licence for digging groundwater wells.
n Fifth: Approving a draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) in the field of electricity and renewable energy between the Ministry of Energy and Industry, State of Qatar and the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources, in Bangladesh.
n Sixth: The Cabinet then reviewed the two following items and took the appropriate relevant decisions:
1- A Letter of HE the Governor of Qatar Central Bank (QCB), the Chairman of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) on the annual report of QFMA for the fiscal year 2012/2013.
2- A draft agreement on strategic co-operation between the Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar Airways.
3- A draft agreement on co-operation between the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Mowasalat Company.
