Pakistan test-fires short-range missiles

According to media reports, the military had successfully test-fired four short-range, surface-to-surface missiles. The NASR missiles have a range of 60 km.

DPA/IslamabadThe Pakistani military said it had successfully test-fired four short-range, surface-to-surface missiles yesterday. The NASR missiles have a range of 60km, and were launched from an undisclosed location, a military spokesman said. “NASR is a quick response system,” military spokesman Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said. The payload capacity of the missiles was not specified. It was also not clear whether they could deliver both conventional and nuclear weapons.The test was witnessed by Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Kayani, Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General (Retd) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, Chairman NESCOM, Mohamed Irfan Burney, Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani, senior officers from the strategic forces and scientists and engineers of strategic organisations. The Chief of Army Staff congratulated the scientists and engineers on this achievement .
